LLANGOLLEN Operatic Society is busy preparing for its main show A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum.

Running from April 22 to 26 (7.30pm) in Llangollen Town Hall, rehearsals are in full swing with some of the principle characters being played by Richard Mascarhenas, Louisa Jones, John Whitfield, John Clifford, John Jones and Iwan Astley, under the direction of Chrissie Ashworth.

For those of you who haven't heard of the show before, it is a very funny musical farce. The most memorable song is the rousing opening number Comedy Tonight which explains to the audience what they are going to see.

Frankie Howard famously played the lead years ago.

It is set in Roman times and the characters have spoof Latin names giving the audience an insight into their characters.

Hystericus (played by John Clifford) is always in a flap, Erronius (John A Jones) has got things wrong, and Domina (Jill Handley) is a bossy wife to the elderly Senex (Iwan Astley).
