Phoebe's circuit to fitness: week two

HAVING already been through what could be described as the most nerve-wrecking parts of my introduction into the world of circuit training, I went to my third class with a confident feeling in my heart and a spring in my step.

I had lul
led myself into a false sense of security that I knew what I was doing and merely had to get on with doing it better.

But complacency is not on option with Noelle – she certainly likes to keep you on your toes – and to my horror I find that the circuit has changed.

This time we're going to do one circuit with 90 seconds at each station (instead of 60 seconds) a different circuit also at 90 seconds then a final circuit at 60 seconds before the walk off.

That would all be well and good, but the exercises themselves have also stepped up a level with extra arm movements for intensity as well as more endurance based activities, such as the dreaded plank.

I solider on like a trooper forever asking one of my circuit training buddies how do the next exercise and by the end of it all I'm thoroughly exhausted – who would of thought those extra 30 seconds would make that much difference?

The next day my arms are aching, must have been the bench press-ups, but by Thursday I have no excuse to get me out of another class as they're better again.

Thankfully the circuits are the same as on Monday so I have more of an idea what I'm doing. This time the circuit seems to go quicker.

"Are you finding anything easier yet," asks Noelle. I look up at her as a do my tricep lift wishing I could please her by saying yes but I cannot lie and have to admit it's still very hard.

On my way home I feel so tired but pleased I've not given up on myself. You never know maybe next week I will find something easier – we'll see.
