It's almost time to join for the journey of the meteoric rise of on of Britain's best loved television personalities.

The critically acclaimed ITV biopic of the life of Cilla Black will brought to the stage in Cilla: The Musical at Rhyl Pavilion for five-nights later next month.

The musical, which tells the story of a young Priscilla White's transformation into national treasure Cilla Black, opened at the Liverpool Empire in Cilla’s home city last year, before hitting the road, with newcomer Kara Lily Hayworth making her stage debut in the title role.

Robert Willis, Cilla’s son, said, “We wanted somebody who wasn’t going to impersonate my mum but someone who could capture her spirit.

"Kara came in with her huge personality and amazing voice – when I saw the response of the audience at the Cavern, I knew she was the one my mum would have wanted.”

The story all begins with an introduction for Cilla from a young John Lennon to music mogul and former Beatles manager Brian Epstein.

Many a fond memory of the much-missed presenter of Blind Date and Surprise, Surprise will be rekindled with a brand new cast and plenty of showstopping tunes to recreate the Zeitgeist of the star’s dizzying ascent through the swinging sixties and beyond.

This spectacular and heart-warming musical adaptation is scored with the ultimate soundtrack of the period, including The Beatles' Twist and Shout, The Mamas and the Papas’ California Dreamin’ and, of course, Cilla’s greatest hits, Anyone Who Had a Heart, Alfie and Something Tells Me.

So for a night with a 'lorra, lorra' laughs and showstopping tunes, head to the Pavilion from Tuesday, August 21 until Saturday 25 with shows at 7.30pm and matinee performances on on Wednesday 22, Thursday 23 and Saturday 25 at 2.30pm.
