All Mankind
Simple Desire
Silva Screen Recordings – out now
THIS band sound an awful lot like the Killers and Keane, and they’ve even got a ‘k’ in their name. Coincidence? Well, yes, of course it is, but the comparison still holds.
‘Simple Desire’ was produced and mixed by Mike Crossey, who has previously worked with the Arctic Monkeys, Razorlight and the Kooks, so frankly I rest my case.
All Mankind are hitting all the right notes with this album, but it’s almost a little bit too perfect. It’s not the kind of Hollywood gloss which makes the charts so unbearable, but it is an unfortunate generic indie-electro sound which is absolutely everywhere, reducing these Aussies from being clearly skilled musicians to just another cog in a very large wheel.
By all means give it a listen, because if you’re willing to listen to the others then this lot should definitely feature in your indie arsenal.
