RUB that lamp and hitch a magic carpet ride - this is panto at its best... with a 3D twist!
Don’t miss Aladdin at Llandudno’s Venue Cymru this December, for a performance full of boos, hisses, ‘he’s behind you’s’ and ‘oh no it isn’t’.
The story of Aladdin is known by most, the peasant boy who falls in love with the princess - who is only allowed to marry a prince.
Aladdin needs to impress Princess Jasmine’s father, and quickly, before she is betrothed to another.
Step forward - Abanazar, who promises Aladdin all the riches of the world to enter a cave and recover a magic lamp.
But as we all know Abanazar is the ‘baddy’ of this panto, so nothing is quite as it seems.
Abanazar is played brilliantly by real live ‘villain’ Dancing on Ice’s Jason Gardiner.
Jason plays the role exceptionally, and gives the audience not only a taste of his acting and singing skills, but also his talents as a dancer which definitely deserve a 10 out of 10!
The humour that has the adults in tears, is provided by the hilarious John Evans as the mischievous and cheeky Wishee Washee, and his ‘mother’ Widow Twankey.
But what sets this panto aside from any others I have seen over the years is the need for 3D glasses.
The genie is brought to life when the specs are donned, which brings a new aspect to the world of panto.
The audience, young and old, were jumping and laughing, dodging parts of the broken mystical cave which came within touching distance, watch out for the spider and snake who also come for a closer look.
This latest edition in the world of technology has most certainly updated the panto scene.
And although the cast didn’t need any extra help in keeping the audience entertained, the 3D aspect made this a panto to remember.
