Think of a Florida holiday and automatically the mind wonders to a world of fun. So if you’re looking for some awesome activities for the family, non-stop excitement for friends or even a relaxing, romantic break for two, a Florida holiday has something to offer everyone.

Discover Disney

Families should head directly to Orlando. As well as being the theme park capital of the world, Walt Disney World in Florida is home to Mickey Mouse. With 20 resorts, hotels, theme parks and golf courses, the self-contained fantasy world offers everything from roller coasters to performing whales.

Venture out to the great outdoors

You don’t have to travel too far to get up close to rare and endangered species Everglades National Park is a subtropical wilderness. Created to protect a fragile ecosystem, the park which houses over 300 species of birds and marine life, is also home to 50 species of reptile including the American crocodile.

Sun, sea and sand verses spa

There’s no end to the choice of beaches for those sun catchers hoping to get a tan before they jet back home. Cocoa Beach, west of Orlando, is a popular for those wanting to sit back and relax. For those wanting to roam around and explore, the white sandy beaches of Clearwater and St. Petersburg on the Gulf Coast are perfect.

For those who can’t even stand the thought of sand between the toes, ears and other nooks and crannies or who’ve already read the year’s latest beach bestsellers, then a spa break might be for you. Unwind at a five-star resort or beachside haven. Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa or Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa are ideal for de-stressing weary parents, while the kids run riot on the rollercoaster rides.

Surf up and snorkel down

The East Coast is the best place for surfers to catch the waves and boogie on the board. While the unspoilt Florida Keys beaches hide a shipwreck under the sea; snorkelers and divers can head deep down to discover a different world.

Sights for the shopaholic

Fabulous malls and beachside boutiques are aplenty in Florida. So don’t panic about not being able to find that Florida holiday souvenir. If it’s not in the first store you’ll find it in another not too far away. A trip to Aventura Mall is a must: the premier shopping destination in south Florida has everything from fashion and food to electronics and eyewear (in case you lose the sunglasses).

Where to stay

There are myriad places to stay. Disney alone has many resorts and villas. For sport, music and movie lovers, Disney’s All-Star Resort might be the place for you. If wildlife is your thing Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge or perhaps the Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground are the best places to rest. Water babies and paddle players can choose between the Walt Disney World Dolphin Hotel and Walt Disney World Swan Hotel.

Top tips for travelling around

Hiring a car can help you get the most out of your Florida holiday. With so much to see and do it’s the most convenient mode of transport you can opt for. Just remember it’s the other side of the road you need to be on.

Whether you take an exciting ride on Thunder Mountain or relax by the pool at your hotel, you’ll enjoy finding the perfect balance for your holiday around every corner of Florida.
