AFTER four decades of Grease The Musical performing it still continues to rock n’ roll the stage.
The greatest number one musical is in Venue Cymru, Llandudno this week and be prepared to be hit with 50s slang, mini-fireworks and one great rendition of Grease Lightening.
Leader of the T-Birds, Danny, is played by Danny Bayne who won ITV’s Grease is the Word and has gone onto make his debut as Danny Zuko.
His vocals were brilliant and Danny’s duo of Summer Nights with Sandy (Carina
Gillespie) was extremely impressive and outshined his co-star’s performance.
Danny captured the 50s character perfectly and embraced Danny Zuko’s personality.
The best act of the night was Rizzo played by Kate Somerset How, who was a finalist in ITV’s Grease is the Word.
Her performance of Look at me, I’m Sandra Dee and There Are Worse Things I Could Do were by far the best of the night, along with Grease Lightening with strong and remarkable vocals from Kenickie (Ross William Wild).
Another person I must mention is Russell Grant, and unfortunately I remember his performance for all the wrong reasons.
His applause as he walked on stage lifted the whole crowd but his rendition of Beauty School Drop Out was painful to listen too and his dancing was embarrassing with such a tight silver sequined suit on.
But his performance was clearly for humour only and though he showed little talent he definitely made the crowd laugh.
An important person to this show was the lighting designer, Mark Henderson, the stage was majestic and an applause must also go to the band.
