Review: Ladytron, 'Gravity the Seducer'

BELIEVE it or not Ladytron have been going for 12 years. This is their fifth studio album - but if I’m honest, it doesn’t really sound like it.

Gravity the Seducer is a pure pop record, with lilting breathy vocals and unavoidable, in-your-face synth-disco vibes. If Ellie Goulding and Alison Goldfrapp had a musical love child, it would be named Ladytron.

Many of the tracks on this album sound exactly the same, with the kind of persistent house drum beat you only find in underground clubs where they have those chairs shaped like eggs.

There are a few exceptions to this rule, for example the track White Gold, and it is for this reason I’d advise any curious fans to check out a few singles before you launch yourself into the full-on hedonism of Gravity the Seducer.
