Dwr Cymru Welsh Water’s Llyn Brenig Estate has an action packed weekend in store for adults and children alike.

On Saturday ( March 16) Llyn Brenig will host a Black Grouse gathering dawn walk, giving visitors the opportunity to view the mating ritual, known as the Lekking of the Black Grouse, at Gors Maen Llwyd nature reserve.

The event will take place at 5am and participants can expect to return at around 8.30am.

Those who are interested in taking part in this event need to call North Wales Wildlife Trust on 01248 351541 to reserve a space.

On Sunday (17 March) there is an opportunity for children to get their creative juices flowing and come and enjoy a Crafty Kids’ workshop at Llyn Brenig’s  Visitor Centre from 10am till 3pm.

The crafty kids workshop drop in session will allow children, accompanied by their parents, to get creative using woodland materials, glitter, glue and paint.

Llyn Brenig site controller Ed Parsons said: “Llyn Brenig is particularly beautiful during spring time and our range of activities offer visitors the chance to discover more about local nature and wildlife, whilst enjoying the stunning scenery at the same time.

" Anyone going on the walk should remember to wear warm and waterproof clothing and suitable footwear.”

Llyn Brenig is a large river-regulating reservoir situated 400 metres above sea level on the Denbigh Moors.

Angling facilities are preserved exclusively for fly-fishing.

The 919-acre reservoir and lake stocked with 30,000 Rainbow and Brown Trout has an international reputation and has previously hosted the World Fly-fishing Championships and regular Home Fly-fishing Internationals.

The estate is ideal for countryside walks and has a cycling path, visitor centre with exhibition, cafe and adventure playground.

Llyn Brenig reservoir site, including the café and visitor centre, is open to the public every day of the year apart from Christmas day.

The sites host a range of activities for all ages and abilities including angling, sailing and windsurfing, pond dipping, bird watching and guided nature walks.
