A DETERMINED blind woman has raised more than £1,000 for charity after taking part in a 110ft abseil.
Nicki Cockburn, 33, of St David's Road in Llandudno, visited the Marquis of Anglesey column on Sunday, where she scaled down the tower to raise funds for St Dunstan's charity, who offer physical and emotional support to blind and visually impaired ex-Service men and women.
"It was absolutely brilliant. I really enjoyed it," said Nicki. "It was a bit scary. I had to lean over the rail and put my legs on a narrow rail. I thought I wasn't attached. But I managed to do it.
"I'd definitely do it again!"
Although she had originally set herself a fundraising target of £500, Nicki was amazed by the support she was given and smashed her self-set total.
She said: "I wanted to raise £500, but I managed to raise £1,033. I had lots of people putting money on my JustGiving website and local shops have been helping so much. One kind couple donated £500 and one lady gave £100.
"I've always said the people of North Wales have bee behind me, and they've done it again."
