A YOUNG tennis champion from a Chester school has been praised after serving up a winning performance.
The King’s School Junior School pupil Tom Thelwall, 11, of Malpas, won three out of four possible matches at the annual Association Junior Independent Schools’ tennis tournament.
School spokesman Rebecca Holt said: “In the final of the contest, Tom emerged victorious with an unbeatable performance.
He provided spectators with a thrilling match throughout the competition hosted by King’s.”
Another Junior School pupil and national player, Llewelyn Bevan, 11, of Tattenhall, reached the semi-finals and Sam Thompson, 11, of Gresford, won the AJIS plate.
Finally, Annie Powell, 11, of Chester, took the same award in the girls’ competition.
