Pontblyddyn 96 all out
Llandudno 83 all out
Pontblyddyn won by 13 runs
LLANDUDNO missed an opportunity to go top of the Welsh Premier League in what is shaping up to be a classic title race.
It all started so well for Llandudno, with fellow title hopefuls Pont bowled out for just 96 runs in 21 overs.
Gordon Kerr was at his devastating best to take seven wickets for 44, whilst pace partner Jack Rimmington took the remaining trio to set Llandudno up for what seemed a comfortable win.
But the rain-affected pitch proved equally difficult for Llandudno to deal with, as Kerr, Chris Hardy and Matt Lambe, who top scored with an unbeaten 13, were the only players to reach double figures in a low scoring effort.
Scoring just 83 from their 45 overs, the Seasiders came up 13 runs short, dropping to fourth in the table, eleven points behind new leaders Connah’s Quay.
Just 22 points now separate the top five teams, with fifth placed Bangor visiting The Oval this weekend.
Going gets tough for 2nds
LLANDUDNO SECONDS found the going tough in their Division One fixture at the weekend, losing out by nine wickets to second placed Northop.
Number three Alex Owen’s knock of 33 was the best of the day for Llandudno’s batsmen, as they posted 92 all out from 34 overs.
Jack Thornton added 19 and opener Mark Lambe scored 10 on an otherwise difficult day against some of the division’s top bowlers.
In response, Llandudno had little to resist the promotion hopefuls, despite Tom Thornton’s early wicket, as Northop reached 94 in the 22nd over.
