Conwy 216-7
Gresford 131 all out
Conwy won by 85 runs
CONWY kept up their title challenge at the weekend after cruising to victory over Gresford.
An 85 run margin kept the Castlemen in with a shout of promotion, sitting 30 points behind Gresford in second spot in Division One.
Shaun Davies kept up his big-hitting form to score 34, but Philip Davies went one better with 35 and Ed Favill topped the lot with 39 to help Conwy build up a head of steam.
Rajjenu Britto added a useful 27 to push Conwy’s cause, as they declared on 216 for seven.
Daniel Davies made his contribution by taking a pair of early wickets, and finished the day as Conwy’s top bowler with four for 26 from nine overs.
Other than a stubborn contribution from Gresford number five Arthur Thomas, Conwy had too much for their Wrexham opponents, as they fell well short of their target, with Jake Longmore and Shaun Davies both taking a brace of wickets.
2nds just pipped at the post.
CONWY SECONDS meanwhile lost out in their weekend tie with Gresford, losing by six wickets.
A competitive 196 was put up by the Seconds, thanks largely to 62 from Marc Wolmarans and opener Rob Miller’s 42.
But a resilient display from Gresford saw them pip Conwy’s total in the 44th over with six batsmen to spare, despite Philip Wilson taking a pair of wickets.
