HEALTH workers are being given the chance to gain a healthier lifestyle thanks to golfers in and around Chester.
Members of the Cheshire County Golf Partnership will be coaching at the Treating Yourself Well day at Clatterbridge Hospital, Bebington, on Sunday, July 24.
More than 6,000 NHS staff and their families have been invited to the event, being hosted by Wirral University Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, where they will be offered free taster sessions along with Tri Golf and GolfXtreme, which are aimed at schoolchildren.
Trust spokesman Richard May said: “The emphasis will be on fun and relaxation, a great way to celebrate the launch of the trust’s pioneering ‘Fitter for Health’
campaign, which aims to encourage and support NHS staff to take up a regular
sport or physical activity.”
County development officer at the partnership, Craig Thomas, said: “This is an ideal opportunity to showcase the many health benefits that golf has to offer.
“Golf is the only sport that can be competitive at all ages and by all abilities and has health benefits as well as the sporting and social enjoyment.
“The Go 4 Green campaign means there is a course of free lessons to suit everyone who wants to learn how to play golf and keep fit at the same time.”
The event takes place from 11am to 3pm.
