THREE of Conwy’s top young tennis players have been selected to take part in a special training programme.

Llandudno’s Elin Anderson, 11, and Colwyn Bay duo Elen Scarff, 12, and Emily Watson, 15, have all been selected to join the Lawn Tennis Association’s AEGON FutureStars programme.

The trio join 477 of the UK’s most promising junior tennis players in taking part in the training scheme, which Leon Smith, the LTA’s Head of Men’s and Women’s Tennis, said would help bring through a new raft of talented British players.

“We are committed to supporting and identifying our most talented players, and the AEGON FutureStars programme is central to this process for young players who are starting out in the game,” he said.

“There’s obviously a long way to go for these players. It’s a long journey for any player hoping to make an impact on the game but we hope that with the right support, these players are given the best possible chance of reaching their full potential.”
