LLANGEFNI Town remain in trouble at the foot of the table after Conwy United - playing their first game under their new manager Mark McGraa - strolled to an easy win.

The Musselmen grabbed the first chance of the game at Lon Talwrn on 10 minutes when Lee Craven’s 30 yard shot forced a good save from Cefni keeper Luke Holden.

Cefni’s first clear chance came on 30 minutes, when good passing by Matt Devine and John Owen found skipper Rory Courlander, who beat his man and shot inches wide.

Joe Garner tested the visiting keeper with a good shot moments later, after good work from Sion Owen down the left flank.

The visitors might have felt a fortunate not to be reduced to 10 men on 35 minutes after a poor tackle from former Cefni player Robbie Williams, who was already on a yellow card, but referee Andrew Harms decided not to show him a red.

The home side committed more men forward, and Devine went close just before half time, although Cefni had centre half Lee Hughes to thank for blocking Jordan Kane’s shot at the other end.

Conwy broke the deadlock on the counter two minutes into the second period, when Jordan Kane’s cross found debutant Dean Canning, who headed home from close range.

It was 2-0 a minute later, when Lee Craven capitalised on confusion in the Cefni defence to score against his old club.

Cefni were not downhearted, however, and quickly hit back on 52 minutes, when Garner fired a fine free kick into the top corner.

The home side looked for the equaliser, but their hopes were dashed on the hour, when a counter attack saw Canning beat his marker and shoot past Holden from the edge of the area.

The defeat - Cefni’s 15th in 18 league outings - leaves them languishing in 17th spot with nine points, one place and two points above rock bottom Rhos Aelwyd.

Two places and five points above the Islanders are Penycae and Llanrheadr YM on 14 points although Pen have a game in hand and both teams have a vastly superior goal difference.

Next up for Adie Jones’ men is an away test against mid table Flint Town (2.30pm).
