BRO CERNYW 4
CERRIGYDRUDION 5

WHAT a way to begin the 2012 Vale of Clwyd and Conwy League Division One programme!

Bro Cernyw and Cerrigydrudion fought out a real nine-goal thriller in their first game of the year, with the away side just  edging a 5-4 result.

Cerrig made a strong start to the game and they stormed into a 2-0 lead inside the opening 10 minutes.

Both goals were bagged by Troy Williams, before Bro Cernyw managed to halve the deficit courtesy of Jon Seymour’s 27th minute response.

Cerrigydrudion regained their two-goal advantage before the break, though, thanks to a Jason Jones effort eight minutes from the interval. That was the end of the scoring, until a goal-den closing 25 minutes,.

Iwan Williams’ 65th minute penalty dragged Bro Cernyw right back into the proceedings and it was three-apiece with just a quarter-of-an-hour left when Jon Seymour grabbed his second goal.

Jason Jones popped up to regain the Cerrig lead after 85 minutes and when Troy Williams completed his hat-trick three minutes later, the visitors appeared to have things wrapped up.

Bro refused to throw in the towel, though, and Matt Penlington set up a grandstand finish with an 89th minute goal.
