COLWYN BAY Youth’s excellent home form continued over the weekend with a 17-5 victory over last year’s league champions Ruthin.
Though the visitors were reduced to 13 players through missing men and injury, the Bay put in a ruthless performance to secure the points in the first half.
Callum Mitchell’s quick tap penalty allowed the Bay to break free, sending Harry Donegan through to touch down.
Number 9 Lloyd Jones pressurised his opposing fly-half to set up the second, hacking the ball away and winning a footrace to touch down below the posts, before line-out specialist Matt Phelan scored a deserved try with his catch and drive from a throw-in deep in the Ruthin 22 for his sides third try to open up a 17-0 lead.
The Bay held firm in the second after a series of substitution to take another home victory.
