THE Vale of Clwyd and Clwyd West have one of the highest flood risks in the UK, according to a group of leading insurers who are calling on the government to ensure residents have access to affordable home insurance.
The report by the Association of British Insurers (ABI) revealed that the areas have the largest number of high-risk properties in North Wales, where an estimated 27,050 homes are said to be under threat.
A government-backed pact obliges insurers to offer affordable home insurance for high risk properties but this is due to end in 2013, with the ABI warning that thousands of residents will be left facing steep premiums as a result.
