IT proved to be a thrilling knockout weekend as far as Ruthin Town Youth FC sides were concerned.
Town teams were involved in four ties in various cups and all of them proved to be close affairs.
In the North East Wales Cup, Ruthin Town U-12s progressed after edging to a narrow 1-0 third round victory at home to Penycae.
Rhidian Edwards grabbed the all-important goal for Ruthin.
There was a nine-goal thriller in the U-16s’ North East Wales Cup second round meeting between Ruthin and Llangollen Youth.
Ruthin go through to the third round courtesy of an exciting 5-4 victory, which was secured through goals from Aiden Bell (2), Llyr Morris, Ryan Jones and Cai Davies.
However, Ruthin Town U-14s lost out 4-2 in their NEWFA Cup third round encounter with visitors Penycae.
There was a thrilling derby in the quarter-finals of the Wrexham Youth League U-15s’ Cup, where Ruthin just about saw off the challenge of Bala 5-3.
Connor Lloyd scored two of the visitors’ goals, while Elis Ifans, Tomos T Jones and an own goal completed the Ruthin tally.
