AIR cadets from Ruthin are appealing for information and memorabilia from former cadets.
The current cadets from Ruthin Squadron are hoping to be create a ‘rogue’s gallery’ with old photos of each year of the squadron’s existence.
The photograph on the right is from Air Training Corps taken in about 1978.
Gordan Studley, a former cadet now on the civilian committee, said: “We know the names of some of the cadets and that a couple of them went on to serve in the Royal Air Force. We also believe that this photo was taken when they received their new Squadron Banner.
“The Ruthin Squadron (1918 Sqn) has been in existence for at least 50 years as far as we know. Unfortunately, some of the squadronn’s historical archive of photos has been lost over time, but primarily we think due to a change in premises some years ago.”
The cadets are trying to do is get in contact with any former cadets to see if they have any old photos or other memorabilia that they would be willing to donate or loan to the squadrom.
Funding will be raised to have the photos framed and mounted on the walls as the Sqn’s very own ‘time-line’.
If you have any information, or are able to help, contact Flt Lt Geraint Griffiths on 07786 017699 or 01824 707194 (Monday and Thursday nights only).
