It has been another year of outstanding results for St Brigid’s GCSE students, with almost a fifth of candidates achieving at least 9 or more A or A* grades, while more than half (55%) achieved 5 or more A*-A grades.
The hard work and determination of the students, the dedication of the teachers and the commitment and high shared expectations of our supportive parents have paid dividends.
More than 87% of students achieved 5 or more GCSEs at the higher A*-C grades.
High achievers this year include: Beth Johnson who achieved 10 A* and 1 A, Katie Tansley who came away with 9 A* and 2 A grades, Holly Knox with 9 A*, 1 A and 1 B, Beth Wray with 9 A* and 1A, Georgina Neumann with 8 A* and 2 A grades, Tyler Mazurek with 5 A* and 5 A grades, Jacinta Bollard and Ffion Jones who both achieved with 6 A* and 5 A grades and Lizzie Dean who achieved 4 A*, 5 A and 1 B.
A further 18 students this year achieved distinction in their Public Services NVQ through the Combined Cadet Force.
Stuart Ayres, Head of Learning for Keystage 4 and 5, said: “We are incredibly proud of these results which are a great testament to the hard work and dedication of students, staff and parents who have put in so much this year.
"Most of all we are proud not just of the academic results, but of the promise, character and confidence our students have developed in their time as part of the St Brigid’s family.
"We very much look forward to welcoming many of them back to the sixth form in September.”
