Fight still on to save village school

A COMMUNITY will continue to fight to save its school despite a vote by Denbighshire Council’s cabinet to close it.

The cabinet voted unanimously to close Ysgol Llanbedr in August 2014.

This decision was made despite a vigorous campaign by the community of Llanbedr DC to save the school.

In a statement released after yesterday’s meeting, the Diocese of St Asaph said that “the fight to save the school will continue and we were delighted with the support we received from local councillors at today’s cabinet meeting”.

In a letter to councillor’s, Bishop of St Asaph, the Right Revd Dr Gregory K Cameron said: “I believe that the community and the school family have overwhelmingly demonstrated their support and need for a faith school in Llanbedr.”
