STARS of a Denbighshire pro-wrestling company are preparing to grapple in memory of a local wrestling legend.

Britannia Wrestling Promotions returns to Denbigh Town Hall on Saturday February 22. The action packed family-friendly event will feature the annual El Bandito Memorial Tournament, which pits eight of the top international, British and Welsh superstars against each other in a one night competition.

The winner will be crowned the 2014 Bandito Shield champion, in memory of local wrestling legend and globally recognised TV personality Orig 'El Bandito' Williams.

Last year's winner '100% Welsh Beef' Dylan Roberts will aim to retain his crown in front of the Denbigh crowd.

He said: “Last year, thanks to the massive support from Denbigh, I was able to go all the way to the final round of the El Bandito Memorial Tournament and not only beat three other wrestlers, but defy the odds against The Babyface Pitbulls ‘Pack’.

“This year I don't see it being any different, I will fight for my trophy, I will once again unhinge the roof at Denbigh Town Hall, and I will be crowned the only ever two-time Memorial Shield Winner.”

The contest will also feature The Babyface Pitbull, 'Japanese Sensation' Pyro, 'Dangerous' Damon Leigh, Dave DelVecchio, Marc Morgan, The Executioner and Dean McManus.

Marc said: “When Welsh Wrestling is brought into a conversation El Bandito's name is the most talked about. There's a lot of history and honour there but the tournament speaks for itself. Winning this tournament excels your career and puts your name on the map and that's what I plan on doing.”

Damon Leigh added: “I'm honoured to be involved in the tournament in honour of someone who had a huge influence in British wrestling and who I was lucky enough to work for once many years ago; Orig Williams. I'm hoping I can put on a good performance for the Denbigh fans and go all the way to win this.”

Doors open to the public at 6.30pm, with the show starting at 7.30pm. VIP tickets cost £10 and include the chance to meet the wrestlers backstage after the show. All other tickets are £6.

Tickets can be purchased directly from Denbigh Town Hall or you can reserve tickets via sax@britanniawrestling.co.uk or by calling 07713 566658.
