New plan to end A494 road carnage

Emergency services and organisations have united to address road safety issues on the A494 from The Druids in Corwen, near the A5 junction, to Bala Lake.

The road has been named as one of Denbighshire’s most dangerous after a series of accidents across a decade, which have resulted in five fatalities and 20 people being seriously injured. More than half were motorcyclists.

Professional motorcycle racer Paul Owen, from Llangollen, has warned bikers not to speed or race on the main roads.

Mr Owen, who competed in the Oliver’s Mount in Scarborough last weekend, said: “Some bikes are so fast now they’re only suitable for the race track.”
