Kayaker died at Bala Lake

A MAN died after his kayak capsized on Bala Lake on Saturday.

Paul Davies, aged 34, from Runcorn in Cheshire, was reported missing on Saturday after he fell into Llyn Tegid in Bala after his kayak capsized.

The search continued on Sunday and a body was recovered from the lake in the afternoon.

North Wales Police have thanked all agencies, volunteers and a number of members of the public who went to assist with the searh, including Squadron 22 of the RAF,

NEWSAR (North East Wales Search and Rescue) and officers from NWF&R Service Water Incident Unit at Ruthin were also in attendance.

Bala county councillor Dilwyn Morgan has praised the emergency services for their work.

He said: “The services got here very quickly including the helicopter they were all here in no time at all.”
