A FAMILY near Bala is still searching for their missing emu chick.
The three-month old male chick called Zig escaped from its pen on a smallholding in Llangywer forest last Monday.
Patrick Wright, who was given the birds as an "unusual" present for his 57th birthday from his wife Lindsey, said: "There's not a sign of him anywhere. We took the other one for a walk last night and she wasn't he usual self at all and she's very down in the dumps.
"We've had a couple of possible sightings but there's a guinea fowl farm near Bala and we think that's what people are seeing but we appreciate them calling.
"We're all a bit upset especially the kids of course and we've been out looking every day for a week or more.
"I wouldn't have thought he'd have that good a chance of survival with him being so young.
"There is water out there but he won't know how to pick around for food because he was used to getting that from us."
