THE eagerly awaited fifth series of the Great British Bake Off begins today - and over the next few weeks I will be following the ups and downs of the competition.
And we want you to let us know your thoughts on the show and contestants as well as your own cake wins and cake fails in the kitchen.
The favourite show of millions of cake lovers will now occupy a prime-time slot on BBC1 and will see 12 contestants strive for baking perfection.
Free Press columnist Kathy Roberts was selected as a reserve for the first series of the show that aired in 2010, but was unable to compete because her husband suffered a serious injury prior to filming.
“The auditions were a great experience, and the presenters Mary Berry and Paul Hollywood were lovely and really friendly,” said Mrs Roberts.
“It was nerve-racking as the auditions were filmed as though we were competing on the show.
“I missed my chance unfortunately, but I’m really looking forward to watching this series and I’m not at all surprised that it is such a popular programme, it’s great that home baking is enjoying a revival.
“I’m really glad that it’s the ‘big thing’ now. It’s good that the programme encourages people to bake.
“I love baking and I’d encourage anyone to do it.”
The Free Press will be doing a Great British Bake Off blog here on the webstie denbighshirefreepress.co.uk. And we would love to hear your views and your own baking stories and top tips.
