PUPILS at Ruthin School received their GCSE results today.

The percentage of grades achieved at A*-A increased from 22.71% to 43.14% - Ruthin School’s best ever  result at this level.

The percentage of grades at A* doubled and several students achieved 6 or more A*/A grades.

Top student Emily Vawdrey achieved 4A* and 5A.

Principal, Toby Belfield, said “I am delighted with this year’s GCSE results. It is excellent to see the number of students receiving the top grades increasing, and I am particularly pleased that the number of A* grades has doubled. Last week we were able to announce our best A Levels ever, and the same is true of our GCSEs this week.

"We are continuing to focus on ensuring that our pupils can achieve high academic outcomes – not only in the Sixth Form, but at all levels and ages. The pupils at Ruthin School work very hard to achieve academic success, and our results exemplify this.

"Despite a national decline in high academic achievement, Ruthin School pupils achieve the grades they need to obtain entry to top ranking universities in the UK.

"I am also delighted that so many of the girls that came to Ruthin School last year from Howells School for Girls achieved excellent results. It was not easy for them to change schools in the middle of their GCSE courses, but with their hardwork, commitment from the staff at Ruthin School and support from their parents, they have achieved success.

Well done, to all the students at Ruthin School for achieving outstanding success in the recent results.”
