THE people of Corwen came in their droves to the first town carnival in 10 years.

The festivities began on Saturday with a procession from the town’s health centre in Green Lane to the carnival ground where show president Ruth Lee crowned Queen Jessica and King Frankie before officially opening the proceedings.

In the pavilion there were plenty of competitions to test the handicraft skills from photography to floral art and back on the field entertainment was provided by Professor Panic who taught circus skills and a Punch and Judy show that had the children, mums and dads captivated.

There were bouncy castles and slides, a whole array of market stalls, face painting and even reptiles, snakes, ducks and a skunk for children to pet.

Competition was fierce in the sports section which culminated in two of the town’s PCSOs captaining the tug o’ war teams.

The dog competitions saw many entries in each class and the winners went forward to compete in the best in show won by Hovis.

Organisers were very pleased with the carnival and received a lot of positive feedback on the day and afterwards on Facebook.

They are now looking forward to building on this success for next year’s carnival.
