ST ASAPH'S hopes of achieving a top-two North Wales Cricket League Premier Division finish suffered a weekend blow.
All the talk ahead of Saturday was of heavy rain all day, but the sun came out to welcome the Saints' meeting at home to Pontblyddyn and it was the visitors who came through with flying clolours to take the victory. It was by no means a one-sided contest, though, as the home bowlers caused some early damage to give their side a chance of claiming victory. But batting woes affected the Saints' reply and they ended up well short of their target. Full report in Wednesday's Free Press.
