SECOND spot is still Bala Town’s target as the mid-season split fast approaches.
Along with their match versus Carmarthen Town last night (Tuesday), the Lakesiders can look forward to home comforts ahead of the end of the first half of the Dafabet Welsh Premier League campaign.
Colin Caton’s charges will play host to bottom of the table Haverfordwest County this Saturday, while the first portion of the campaign draws to a close on January 16 with the visit of high-flying rivals Llandudno to Maes Tegid.
It’s been a stop-start winter so far for the Lakesiders, with a long spell without a match due to the weather conditions, while the playing surfaces for the festive double header versus Rhyl tested the players.
“It’s been difficult, but we’ve just kept ourselves ticking over,” said team boss Caton.
“The two pitches were really draining for the lads.”
As for the make-up Bala squad over the coming week, Caton said yesterday: “We’re down to the bare bones tonight and we are down to the bare bones on Saturday.
“It’s just a case of getting to the split and we won’t be bringing any new players in before the split.
“We are aiming for second (at the split).
“If we win the two games in hand then we go second and then we have got Llandudno at home.
“It’s in our hands.”
