A YEAR on since he wowed the nation on hit talent BBC show The Voice Ruthin’s Joe Woolford has exciting plans for 2016.

Last year former teaching assistant, Joe, was the centre of attention as he made it to the semi-finals of the competition and he has spoken to Shane Brennan about his experiences.

What are you up to at the moment?

“Currently I've been going back and forth from London and various places to have meetings with managers and very useful music people.

"I have been working on finding the best avenue for myself to push forward in the industry.”

What plans do you have for the future?

“The future is looking quite exciting. I have been writing and preparing to record new music as well as discussing some other future opportunities which could involve TV again!”

What have the highlights been of the last year since you were on The Voice?

“I have many highlights since my time on The Voice.

“Being on the show gave me the chance to perform at some amazing concerts, attend big events and meet loads of amazing people along the way.

"I loved singing in front of a huge crowd at Access All Eirias and being a part of the same line up as Elton John and The Vamps.”

What is your best memory from your time on The Voice?

“My favourite memory from the voice has to be when Rita could only take three of her eight acts through to the live shows and she picked me first.

“For me to be her first pick from all of the amazing talent she had to pick from was truly an incredible feeling for me.”

Are you still friends with anyone from the show?

“I have kept in touch with a lot of the contestants from the show! Mainly Karis, Emmanuel and Stevie.

“I'll never lose contact with any of the contestants because we were all on the same journey and we were all a big part of each other's lives for the full year of filming series four of The Voice UK.”

How has your life changed since being on the show?

“My life has definitely changed since the voice, it has given me so much exposure, experience under pressure in front of millions and built confidence in myself.

“When I go places or to meetings in London sometimes people will stop me and say they liked me on The Voice.

"For me that is such an amazing feeling to know that a complete stranger enjoys what I do.

“I am so grateful for everything that has happened and for everyone’s support!

“I just can't wait to show everyone the exciting things that are coming in the New Year!”
