TWO knockout encounters are on the menu for Gwynedd sporting fans this Saturday.

Bala Town FC head to old foes Holyhead Hotspur in the fourth round of this season’s Welsh Cup, while on the rugby field there’s a tasty tie for Bala to look forward to as they play host to runaway Division One (West Central) leaders Skewen in the third round of the SWALEC Plate.

Bala Rugby Club chairman Tony Parry said: “Seeing the way it’s going for them in the league, we will have to be on top form defensive wise on Saturday.

“But it’s a game we are looking forward to.”

Skewen have a tremendous record of 16 wins from 17 matches this season and they lead their league by a mammoth 14 points.

“If we didn’t think we could win, we wouldn’t bother playing,” added Parry.

“We can win the game.
