RUTHIN’S Joe Woolford will represent the UK in Stockholm in front of a Eurovision television audience of millions. Tonight Joe, alongside former The Voice rival Jake Shakeshaft, wowed on the live BBC Four’s Eurovision: You Decide special, hosted by Mel Giedroyc. The pair, singing the uplifting You're Not Alone, won the audience vote and will now join the list of famous acts such as Abba, Celine Dion, Lulu and Cliff Richard, to compete in the world's most famous music contest. Joe said that the pair would not be celebrating but would rather work on their performance for Stockholm in May. The pair were praised by the UK's last Eurovision Katrina Leskanich, of Katrina and the Waves, and tipped for success in the contest. Before the show, Joe and Jake said: “We feel seriously honoured to be one of six acts shortlisted to represent the UK in this year’s Eurovision Song Contest. We want to do everyone proud, whether you’re watching at home or cheering from overseas! “We look at our favourite Eurovision acts like Måns Zelmerlöw and Loreen, and would love nothing more than for the UK to smash it like them. It’s time we looked like proper contenders in Eurovision again, don’t you think?” And Joe added: “It’s an uplifting pop song with a really beautiful and universal message. Even though Jake and I are in our early 20s, the sentiment of the song is open enough for people of all ages to adopt it as they see fit." Good luck, Joe!
