MORE than 2,000 people filled St Peter’s Square in Ruthin for the annual Top of Town event.

Visitors enjoyed bands, performances, workshops, poetry and craft sessions during the final weekend of Ruthin Festival.

And according to organisers, plans are already being put together for 2018.

Cllr Jim Bryan, Mayor of Ruthin and chair of the Ruthin festival committee, said: “The whole festival went well, with everyone enjoying the concerts, workshops, poetry and the craft sessions at the craft centre,

“The pubs were heaving afterwards with bands they’d booked themselves.”

“Afterwards, it’s a feeling tiredness, relief and satisfaction with how it all turned out.

“The volunteers on the day were great, everybody worked so hard and we want to thank everybody that helped us out.

“There must have been 70 people helping out and without them, nothing would be possible, so we want to thank them for making it happen.”

Looking ahead to 2018, Cllr Bryan added: “Next year, we’ve got the 25th anniversary of the town being twinned with Briec (in Brittany).

“We have the Bretons coming over for the festival next year, so it will make it a celebration of the link between the towns.”
