A town has finally got its first 3G pitch after Denbighshire County council opened the new facility in Corwen .

This £136,000 investment in the Dee Valley Centre, provides a durable all weather surface, ideal for football and rugby training.

The benefits of a 3G pitch mean that players experience a high quality playing surface in terms of ball bounce and ball roll. In addition, the quick draining surface means that training and matches will continue all year round.

Corwen Leisure Centre is keen to promote this latest attraction at the facility, which has followed on from an £50K investment in new cardio fitness equipment at the centre earlier this year. To complete the exterior project, the new pitch and fencing, will be followed by relining and remarking of the car park.

The leisure centre is now welcoming clubs, teams and the wider community to make bookings for the new pitch and is also offering a new football birthday party package.

Denbighshire County Council say their next step is to open up a similar facility in St Asaph.

Lead Member for Well-being and Independence, Councillor Bobby Feeley said: “This is a fantastic development for Corwen and we look forward to seeing the pitch well utilised by the local community and wider Dee Valley area.”
