Raiders who attempted to force open an ATM machine fled empty-handed after an alarm went off.

They had forced open the roller shutters at the Co-op store on Lower Denbigh Road, St Asaph, just before midnight on Friday.

But when they tried to break into the ATM machine an alarm sounded scaring them off.

Police are now appealing for witnesses to the attempted break-in.

A police spokesman said: “We are keen to hear from anyone who was in the area immediately before or at the time of the incident and may have witnessed anything suspicious.”
