Police have advised a main route into Wrexham is only passable in a 4x4.

The A525 from Llandegla to Wrexham has been hit by heavy snow with standard vehicles in danger of getting stuck if motorists attempt to use the road.

North Wales Police advised people to avoid the road altogether if possible but added it was passable for 4x4 vehicles.

A force spokesman said: "Please be advised that the A525 Llandegla in Wrexham is only passable with a 4X4.

"Please drive safely."

The majority of main routes in and around Wrexham have not been as badly affected but motorists are being advised to take care on the roads and only travel if absolutely necessary.
