A POPULAR landscape painter based in Denbigh has launched a limited-edition book alongside a major solo exhibition in Llanrwst.

Sarah Carvell, 54, living in Denbigh, is launching a signed bi-lingual book ‘Siwrne/A Journey’ alongside her work currently being exhibited at the award-winning Ffin y Parc Gallery until May 23.

Ms Carvell moved from Leicestershire to North Wales with her family when she was four, when her father came to work for Powell Pottery. It was here that she came to speak fluent Welsh and love the world around her, pursuing landscape painting into adulthood.

Ms Carvell said: “The exhibition is an opportunity for visitors to shake off the winter blues and escape for a while into a painted diary of seasons past and present with an optimistic reminder of what is to come.”

For her solo show, Ms Carvell’s paintings include landscapes, portraits of houses and still life paintings around her Denbighshire home.

Ralph Sanders, Ffin y Parc Gallery owner, said: “I treasure the bracing immediacy of Sarah’s work, its warmth, tenderness and honesty and it’s a pleasure and an honour to have her work here at Ffin y Parc.

“I am sure everyone who visits us will enjoy the show and enjoy this book.”

The Ffin y Parc Gallery exhibition will be open to the public from Sunday, April 29 until Wednesday, May 23.
