WEBBY'S on a Euro-mission once more!

Denbigh dartist Mark Webster quickly got over a spot of weekend disappointment to book his spot in the field for a big European Tour event.

Webster will join the great and the good of the PDC in the line-up for the German Darts Championship, which will be held in Hildesheim between August 31 and September 2.

Making Mark's feat even more impressive was the fact he recovered from missing out on a place in the field for the European Darts Matchplay.

After receiving a bye in the opening round, Webster was defeated 6-2 by Robert Thornton during the last-72 stage.

Thereafter, Mark lost just one leg to qualify for a trip to Germany.

Following another bye, he impressively saw off the challenge of Joe Murnan 6-1 and in the key last-36 encouner, Webster whitewashed Mickey Mansell 6-0.

James Wilson, Darren Johnson, Justin Pipe, Andy Boulton and Robert Thornton all secured double qualification success.

The weekend was also marked by a pair of Players' Championship tournaments in Wigan.

Saturday's competition opened in a nail-biting 6-5 success for Webster versus Zoran Lerchbacher.

Things were more comfortable when Mark defeated Steve Beaton 6-2 in the battle of the world champions and he followed this up with a 6-3 victory versus Danny Noppert.

However, a slender 6-5 reverse to Dirk van Duijvenbode ended his good run at the last-16 stage.

Rob Cross beat Ian White 6-4 in the final and it was world champion Cross who ended Webster's tilt at Sunday's Players' Championship title.

After defeating Jamie Caven 6-2 in the first round, Webster lost out 6-1 in his meeting with Cross.

In the final, Cross was beaten 6-4 by Peter Wright.
