RESIDENTS across Denbighshire have been asked to give their thoughts on recycling ahead of changes to the county’s bin collection schedule.

Denbighshire County Council has launched a survey to understand people’s recycling patterns and what steps need to be taken to help residents ahead of bin collection changes.

Through the new proposals, the council will set out to encourage ‘more recycling and less waste’ in response to over half the contents of black bin waste - amassing to over 5,000 tonnes - that could be recycled in Denbighshire every year.

The new proposals, set to be rolled out in 2020, include a new weekly collection for recyclables such as paper, glass, cans and plastic; a new fortnightly collection for clothes and small electrical items; a monthly collection of black bins, while the continuation of a weekly collection of food waste is still being considered.

There will also be a new, larger 240 litre black bins instead of the current 140 litre black bins to compensate for less frequent collection.

The council is now asking for residents’ views to help inform the upcoming changes to recycling services.

The survey, which asks a range of questions around residents' experience of bin collection, is available on the Denbighshire County Council’s website at www.denbighshire.gov.uk/recyclemore

The council has also provided a range of information addressing frequently asked questions and common concerns around the changes to bin collection, available at www.denbighshire.gov.uk/en/resident/bins-and-recycling/recycle-more/recycle-more
