RUTHIN gathered to celebrate a year of community spirit at the annual Carnival last weekend.

Hundreds of people from different parts of the community, from sports teams to local businesses and public services, took part in the carnival procession and activities.

The late-morning float parade travelled from Park Road to Ruthin School with appearances from over 200 people from groups across the community, including North Wales Police and Fire and Rescue Service, Ruthin Air Cadets, Ruthin Rugby Club U11s, Gymnastics Club, the Carnival Queens and Ian Lewney, mayor of Ruthin Ian Lewney.

More than 30 stalls were set up by variety of businesses such as The Bake House, Chilly Cow Ice Cream, Barllaeth, Tesco Ruthin and The Feathers pub.

A range of entertainment was also provided including performances by Ruthin Gymnastics Club, a ukelele band and the haka by Ruthin Rugby U11s.

Anne Roberts, event co-organiser, said: “We were very pleased with the turnout. The weather was brilliant and everyone has said they really enjoyed the carnival and activities on offer.

“It was great to see people in the town show their support. There was a real feel-good factor about the entire day.”

The carnival raised a net profit of £1,000, which will contribute to the Christmas Fair and Ruthin Carnival next year.
