A SUPPORT group has reconvened to help parents struggling with loneliness.

Denbigh NCT, a branch of Denbighshire NCT (National Childbirth Trust), reconvened on Monday to continue to provide parents who may feel lonely or isolated with a safe space to meet like-minded people.

The group was founded by Lottie Beckwith, living in Denbigh for 12 years, which ran last year until Ms Beckwith entered maternity leave with her second child.

Ms Beckwith, who has previously completed a Nurturing Programme course, said: “I have restarted the group because when I went on maternity leave I missed working in the community.

“I used to deliver parenting courses and I got as much out of it as the parents did, so I felt strongly that I wanted to carry on supporting families.

“It’s so important that parents feel they have support.”

A study by Action for Children in 2017 found that more than half of UK parents suffer from loneliness with negative consequences for themselves and their children.

Ms Beckwith added: “I don’t want this to be a traditional parenting group but rather an informal space where parents can meet up - anyone is welcome.”

The group will hold its meetings at Denbigh Chocolate Shop from 10.30am-11.30am on Mondays. For more information contact Denbighshire NCT on 0300 3300700 or e-mail regionwales@nct.org.uk
