An iconic building is set to receive a new lease of life and help rejuvenate Denbigh town centre.

The Grade II listed the Old Vaults, on the High Street, is set to go to the highest bidder as a freehold at online auction, listed with a guide price of £40,000 by Manchester based online auctioneer Landwood Property Auctions, from today.

Cllr Gwyneth Kensler, responded. "It's a very iconic building in the centre of town that has been closed for some years now.

"Its future use is of great concern to us in Denbigh. With town centres declining, we are naturally very interested in the Old Vaults and its future use."

The building occupies about 5,000 square feet in total over four stories.

The ground floor houses the bar and trading area, with small kitchen with stairway access to both basement and first floor.

The accommodation on the first floor is an area previously used as night club, together with a larger kitchen.

There's an additional access from the side to the rear of the first floor, which in turn leads to the second and third floors which provide a variety of additional rooms.

The listing describes the third and fourth floors as: "They may have been in residential use in the past and we understand that the Seller has drawn up plans to convert into flats, but planning permission has not been sought.

"There is substantial #development potential to be unlocked at The Old Vaults, subject to obtaining the necessary consents."

To the outside, there is a yard area with access internally from the first floor, or via the an alleyway leading from the High Street on the right hand side when viewed from the front.

The online auction for the building, described as having "development potential", will takes place from today, Wednesday, July 18.
