A SOUTH American performer has been entertaining people in the Vale of Clwyd.

Last Wednesday, Clwb Rygbi Dinbych played host to a visit from Alejandro Jones, of Patagonia.

This event was jointly organised by the Denbigh 2020 Urdd Eisteddfod appeal committee and the Clwyd branch of the Wales & Argentina Society.

It was held to help raise money for the 2020 Urdd Eisteddfod, which will be held in Denbigh.

In addition, S4C’s Heno conducted a live broadcast about Clwb Rygbi Dinbych's 40th anniversary celebrations.

Richard Snelson, the chairman of the Clwyd branch of the Wales & Argentina society, said: “Alejandro is here for six months with his family living at Llanuwchllyn.

"He is from a region in South America where they speak Welsh.

"Alejandro Jones is also going around Wales playing folk music concerts.”

The Denbigh Urdd 2020 appeal committee has a couple of further events later in the summer.

The McGee Brothers will be in concert on September 21, while on September 29, there will be an appearance from Dona Direidi and Mr Urdd.
