FAMILIES in Denbighshire are being welcomed to a special open garden for a fun day out in aid of charity this Sunday (July 22).

The gardens at Dolhyfryd, Denbigh are set in a small valley of the River Ystrad, with wildflower meadows and woodland of magnificent trees, shade-loving plants and azaleas. The mosaic of plantlife is home to a variety of woodland and riverside birds, including dippers, kingfishers and grey wagtails. New planting at the site has also encouraged many species of butterfly to spread their wings there.

The gardens will be open to the public with the hope of raising funds for Horatio's Garden, a charity for patients at the Spinal Injuries Unit in Gobowen, Shropshire.

There will be a dog show, nature trail, stalls offering home plants and produce, and tea and cakes on the lawn.

All funds raised will contribute to the creation of gardens specifically designed for the spinal injury unit's patients in September.
