A GRADE II listed building on Denbigh High Street has been bought at auction for nearly £65,000.

The Old Vaults, Denbigh, a former pub, was listed with a guide price of £40,000 on Wednesday by Manchester-based online auctioneer Landwood Property Auctions.

The building was bought on Thursday for £64,500.

In the auction listing, Landwood said there is "substantial development potential" for the high street property, which occupies 5,000 square feet in total over four stories.

The ground floor houses the bar and trading area, and a small kitchen with stairway access to both basement and first floor.

The accommodation on the first floor is an area previously used as night club, together with a larger kitchen.

There is additional access from the side to the rear of the first floor, which in turn leads to the second and third floors which provide a variety of additional rooms.

Following the auction, James Ashworth, director at Landwood Property Auction, said: "We were pleased with how the auction went. A good level of enquiries was achieved with interest from people in Denbigh, across the North West of England and as far afield as the South East of England.

"It’s always nice to see competitive bidding and whilst we expected to exceed the guide price, the eventual sale price was always going to be hard to predict given the wide range of possibilities the property offers."
