CHILDREN in Africa have been able to show off their footballing skills thanks to a kind-hearted Vale of Clwyd club.

Ruthin Rovers U-10s were very grateful to three local companies for sponsoring their kit last season.

Because of the high interest in the U-10s, a total of 39 sets of kit were required.

Fortunately, RWSF Ltd, Parry Electrics and Olivax Engineering Ltd all agreed to sponsor 13 kits each.

All of the players and parents are very grateful to the three local companies for their sponsorship.

As a result of securing new team gear, Ruthin Rovers' old kit has been donated to a children’s home in Kenya.

Lewis Isaac, the nephew of one of the U-10s' coaches, had been to the St Jerome’s Centre the year before and he helped to build goalposts for the the children.

The centre is located outside the town of Nakuru in Kenya.

It was set up by a number of volunteers from the UK, including Lewis’ partner Beth Shelvey.

As Lewis himself had played for Ruthin Rovers, it was agreed that the old kit would be donated to the centre.

As well as the Rovers' kit, parents also very kindly donated old Manchester United, Manchester City, Liverpool, Real Madrid and Barcelona kits, which meant over 60 shirts were given to the centre.

The kits and shirts created much excitement in Kenya, with the children wearing them on a regular basis.
