A DEE Valley stalwart has claimed a major accolade.

The Wrexham and District Youth League recently handed out its fair play awards for last season.

The President’s Award, which is handed out by Keith Thomas, went to Corwen Youth FC secretary Huw Jones.

Jones has been involved with the league for more than three decades and he played a key part this season.

He was particularly instrumental in the success of the Corwen girls U-16s team who won honours galore in the North Wales League.

Every year, clubs who achieve the highest sportsmanship marks given by opposing teams are honoured.

At U-14 level, it was Ruthin Town who took the award and Corwen Youth were the U-12s' winners.
